Coco (before) Chanel



Hello!! I'm so excited 'cause I just read great news and I'd be thrilled to share them with you!!!

Actress Audrey Tautou (current Chanel Nº5 spokeswoman) will play french designer and fashion icon Coco Chanel in the big screen, the movie is still in pre-production, but it's release date, according to IMDb, is in 2009.

Coco avant Chanel-its working title-was writen by Anne Fontaine and adapted from the Chanel biography"L'Irreguliere" by Edmonde Charles-Roux (Former editor-in-chief of French Vogue).Fontaine said that she would only make this film if Audrey was in the lead.The film will focus on Chanel's childhood and early womanhood and portraits Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel before being famous,showing the events and people that shaped her.


Gabrielle Chanel was born into poverty in Saumur, in the Loire Valley of France, in1883.She was the illegitimate daughter of a traveling salesman. After the death of her mother and abandonment by her father she spent seven years in a Catholic orphanage, where she learned to sew.Fashion wasn't her first carreer choice,as a young woman, Chanel had ambitions to be a singer and it was while warbling "Who's Seen Coco in the Trocadero" in a cabaret that she acquired the nickname Coco. Chanel died on January 10,1971 at the age of 88.
